We spent 3 nights at the Homewood Suites in downtown Chicago. When we arrived our room wasn't ready. They held our bags at the valet area and brought them up promptly when our room was ready..which only took about 30 minutes.
Our room was very nice. The suites are great with kitchenette, living area, dining table, bedroom and separate sink area from the bathroom. Our room was very clean with the exception of mildew on the grout in the bathroom. With the products available now, there should be no mildew in bathrooms at hotels. It's just too easy to take care of these issues now.
The hotel is right on the line for the free blue trolley to the Navy Pier. It's only about a 6 block walk so we didn't take advantage of the trolley...but we do tend to walk a lot. One block west of the hotel on E. Grand and N. State is the Grand Plaza Market. It's a small supermarket. We were able to get supplies for the room there. Prices were only about 5% higher than what we were used to at home, so not bad at all. They have a pharmacy, groceries, toiletries, etc.
ESPN Zone is around the corner in the same building. Bloomingdales is around the corner as well. Easiest way to Michigan Avenue is to walk west on E. Grand, turn left on N. Rush then right on E. Ohio. Boom...Michigan Avenue in all it's glory.
The location is just unbeatable!
