My husband, mother, sister-in-law, and I visited this hotel for a weekend trip to Chicago. Checkin was easy. I don't use credit cards, and wanted to check in with my check card. I was able to pay the hotel stay in full at checkin, so I didn't have a hold placed on my ard for incindentals- NICE!
The hotel is situated about two blocks away from the Magnificent Mile. We had a room on the top floor, with a great view of the city. When walking into the room, we noticed that the entire far wall of the hotel room consisted of windows, so the view was breathtaking. The kitchen was by the door, then a desk/workstation, and then the living room with a sleeper sofa and flat-screen tv. The bedroom was to the left, and had two double beds. High speed internet was free, and the business center (free) was nice too for printing out our flight boarding passes.
Bathroom was in the actual bedroom, and the sink/vanity was outside the bathroom.
The water pressure in the shower was great, and the neutrogena toiletries provided were nice. The only things I wish were different were the poor venthilation in the bathroom, and the pretty thin mattress on the pullout sofa. If you're planning to sleep on it, please bring a mattress pad.
The pool area seemed nice- we never swam in the pool since children always seemed to be in there, even late in the evening. The exercise room was small but nice- again, one whole wall consisted of windows, so you have a great view while working out.
Complimentary breakfast is great. Please get there early if you are here on the weekends. The wait will be about 5-10 minutes otherwise. Eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, cereals, bagels, yogurt, and fresh fruit are always served. One day we had french toast, another we had biscuits. The coffee and fruit juices are great.
The staff is wonderful. We had one on the staff members give us tips on great places to eat in the area, and he actually pulled out a map and showed us where each restaurant was. He spoke with us for about 10 minutes about what to see and where to eat, I thought that was so nice.
Overall, if you are planning a trip with family members and want a great place to stay, I strongly recommend you consider this hotel. If you are looking for a romantic place for just the two of you, you may want to stay elsewhere.
