If you're visiting Chicago with a family, this is a perfect place to stay. You'll have room to spread out and many Chicago attractions are within walking distance. The entrance is hard to spot from the street and is very cramped. That's because the lobby, which is very spacious and welcoming, is actually on the second floor. There are only two elevators, which were usually crowded because of the number of families staying. We had to get adjoining suites because no two-bedroom accomodations were available. (This seemed unusual to us.) However, the hotel was very helpful in making sure our suites were next to each other, which was quite an accomplishment over Labor Day weekend. You'll be a couple of blocks from the free trolley - a great way to get to the loop - and Pizzaria Uno is right across the street. You can put your name in, go back and relax, and show up for your pizza an hour and a half later. Everything, including lodging, is expensive in Chicago but this is worth it.

I stayed here with my husband and 2 children ( 4 and 1) for 2 nights recently. It was a perfect location, close to the free trolley and regular bus lines, a couple blocks from Michigan Ave, right in the middle of the downtown area.
The kitchen area was great - full size fridge, oven, microwave and a dishwasher. We did not have any problems with noise, and the living room area was big enough to pull out the sofa bed for my 4 year old and set up the pack-n-play for my 1 year old with no problem at all.
The free breakfast was good -- several options, eggs, french toast, potatoes, several cold danish/doughnut selections, cereal, fruit, etc. We didn't have trouble either morning getting a table, but as others have said, you can also get takeout containers and take it back to your room.
I'd definitely recommend this hotel to families and anyone looking for a good deal on a hotel in the heart of downtown. We will definitely stay again when we return to Chicago.

We had reservations at Hilton Garden Inn over July 4 weekend but due to a flight delay we were moved to The Homewood Suites. The rooms were good size, very clean and super quiet. The staff was courteous and helpful. The location was perfect. We were able to walk most everywhere we wanted to go, including Grant Park, the Museums, Navy Pier, shopping, and restaurants.

The price was reasonable and included a breakfast buffet each morning. On Sunday the wait was quite long for a table but we were provided with carry out containers and enjoyed it in our suite.

Elevator waits could be long when large groups were checking in. I chose to take the stairs (to the 19th floor) rather than wait.

My husband and I stayed at the Homewood Suites Mon-Wed the 2nd week in July. The location is superb. The free breakfast hit the spot each morning, even had to-go boxes to bring it back up to our room. Having a fridge, microwave, dishwasher and stove made it more "homey" for us. We popped popcorn one evening (complimentary) too. $35 a day to park was the only drawback. I would definitely go back.
