Three of us stayed two nights in April. From the moment we checked in, we were treated respectfully and the staff had great attitudes. We paid $140 for our first night which was booked the day before, and our second night included the parking package so it was $191. The second night was booked several months before via TravelZoo. Our room was a suite with two queen beds. Although some of the furnishings were a little outdated, the suite was extremely comfortable and roomy. We had full kitchen facilities had we wished to cook any of our meals. We were able to entertain friends who met us in the city. The hotel is directly behind the John Hancock Building and is one block off The Magnificent Mile and centrally located to the museums and everything you could possibly wish to do.

Really enjoyed my stay at the Seneca, was apprehensive after reading other reviews but really rate this hotel. Staff very helpful & friendly- located near the John Hancock, michigan ave- near all the main attractions.....i did contact the hotel & got a newly renovated room. The bed was very comfortable and the room a decent size. We did eat in the steakhouse- a steak cost $30 dollars - no veg etc all side dishes are extra... expensive for what we got.

We Stayed at Seneca over the new year / And I booked a work trip - Business trip bad

The hotel is older. I had booked a group for work here in October. For our New Year's trip i did get a good deal - $89 so I should not complain too much. The room my husband and I shared was quite dated. Peeling paint, the bathroom fixtures we old - and it seemed to need of repair. The location is great! For this reason, I liked this hote.
When I stayed in October (work group) and also over new years, there was an issue with the heat. Too much of it. There were signs posted in the elevator about opening of the windows in your room, and not to do it. In Ocotber, while alone, I DID open my windows - and there are NO SCREENS. But it was SO HOT. Crazy hot. It was also warm over New Years and we also opened the windows. It was so hot.. to the point of sweating.
If I got a deal again, I would stay here. I would not spend over $100 a night. When I booked the work group - I believe it was $149-$169 I don't remember.... but what I do remember is that upon check in of the work group - they charged the credit cards for the full trip at the time of check in. I thought that was odd. There was about 2 or 3 that checked out early - and although I let them know in advance - it took 2-3 weeks after me contacting them to get the credit. ALSO, the business facilities are BAD. I had to use their "business center" to print some documents out of my email - I had to print 10 copies of about 4 or 5 email attachments. Nightmare. They charge per page to print. The printer quit working. No phone in the business center. I had to use my cell phone to call hotel front desk. The front desk person came - to no avail. I had to then forward MY emails to the PERSONAL email of the front desk person - she then printed them out. I was not comfortable in forwarding - but at this point had no choice. I then had to wait about 30 minutes for them to be printed. It cost me about $50 to use their "business center"!

My girlfriends and I decided on a last minute trip to Chicago to celebrate her stag. I've booked Seneca through Cheaptickets.com at 129/night USD. It was very cheap price, since there were 5 of us. When we got to the Hotel the room I booked could only sleep 4 people, but then I only booked for 4 (one of the girls came with us last minute). I've asked at the front desk (Matias, very nice Polish gentleman) if we could change the room and get an extra bed. They gave us a Deluxe Room with kitchen at no charge. I thought it was very nice of them, since it's all last minute. There were some women complaining at the front desk, they ordered a Deluxe Room over the phone for 5 and got a very small room. I figure there is no point in flipping out at the reception staff, since they are in no control of what the reservations are doing.

Ok, so here it is. The rooms are small, since the Hotel is older and was build in the 20's. Also, the rooms are not Trump Tower rooms, since the price you pay for it is not over $300. The washroom is small, but it is somewhat clean. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. I will definitely come back with my husband and kids in the summer.

Ohh btw, Chicago is called the windy city for a reason. It's cold and windy, the time of the year we chouse totally wasn't the best. If I come back it will be in the summer..lol

Hotel location is perfect, if you are not in Chicago to shop for bargains. There is lots of Resto's around, lots of Starbucks places and a grocery store down the street.

Be very careful of the taxi drivers, they try to take you on a scenic route.

I read all of the negative Seneca reviews and almost backed out, but the great internet deal I received was too good to pass up. The majority of the reviews were positive so I thought the odds of a good stay here were in my favor---they were. Everything about my stay was first-rate. I stayed in an updated room on the eleventh floor, which was nice, clean, quiet, spacious and very comfortable. No problems at all with the hot water. The staff was very friendly, helpful and courteous. The location is ideal. I'll definitely stay at the Seneca again!
