My husband and I stayed at the Seneca as he had a 3 day conference at the Merchandise Mart. I wanted a hotel that was close to attractions so I had something to do while he was working and was easy for him to get to and from the conference (it was a convenient $6 taxi ride).
LOVED: The king size bed, it was so comfortable. The room was a great size. Basically a bedroom and sitting room. The room was clean and quiet.
The location is phenomenal, a block away from the Magnificent Mile and main attractions. Across from John Hancock Observatory and Water Tower shopping plaza.
What could have been improved: There was only one towel set when we arrived which I thought was odd especially as we booked a King size bed. They organized more towels so that wasn't a big deal.
What I found 'interesting' was the electrics. I set the bedside alarm clock and then noticed it was flashing like it hadn't been set. I soon discovered that when I used the light switch I was also turning off the TV, clock and lights... I spoke to Front Desk and they said it was the same issue in all rooms.
I'm not sure if our room (806) was renovated or not - it was definitely clean and tidy, but dated. The kitchen was convenient for reheating leftovers.
Would I stay there again?? Maybe, but I may see if I can find a deal for a more upmarket / modern hotel in the future - but that's just my taste, the Seneca is still a great hotel in a perfect position.
