I stayed for two nights on business. I was worried after reading the reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised.
The room was not big, but perfect for one person or a for couple for a short stay. It was recently remodelled: I liked the style and the bed was very comfortable.
The position is great, right in the middle of the Miracle Mile. The building's architecture is beautiful.
The only issue I had were the elevators: sometimes there was a short wait because two elevators were not available for guests.

My friend and I were meeting up in Chicago and asked for rooms close to each other (we booked this 5 months in advance). She got a room on one floor and I on another. My lovely room overlooked what appeared to be a prison yard. Why are there Ice machines and no ice buckets?
My room card key only would work once and then I would have to call security to be let in. I was there for four days and this happened daily. We were given incorrect directions to the boat tour and the Concierge had a very aloof attitude. Small coffee service in lobby with a table so small that everyone spilled. But they had a grand piano to take up space.
Place looks great on the internet but they took a beautiful old gem and tried to make it modern with paint (dark gray with a green tinge) for the dining room. Entry to hotel smelled like a sewer and when they would put the elevator out of service they couldn't even bother to put up a sign!
Food sucked, I ordered granola and they put the milk on it for me!
Needless to say, soggy city and waiter was annoyed we didn't opt for the buffet so his tip would go up.
Oh, and the last night I was there I sat in the chair and tried to put up the window for some air and the top popped out and hit me on the head. Thanks, I needed that!
I sent the hotel a response to their satisfaction survey and got back the standard blah blah blah e-mail. They could care less!

“A good experience overa”

Reading some of the reviews on here, I was nervous as to what we would find when we arrived in Chicago, but I was pleasantly surprised. I knew to expect small rooms and slow elevators, both of which were there, but neither were vacation ruiners. We were booked in a room with one double bed, though the bed was at least queen size. As for the small room, it was sufficient for the little time we were actually in there. The view wasn't much at all, but again not that big of a deal. The staff, which I'd read were rude and not helpful, seemed polite and more than willing to please. The elevators are slow and a little screwy, but we never waited more than a few minutes. If we had any complaints, the noise level from the hallway and other rooms could be high at times (the walls seem awfully thin), but for the most part it seemed like other guests were respectful in that regard. We'd stay here again the next time we're in Chicago!

I loved the location right on the magnificient mile, but the rooms
were too small for two people and so was the bathroom, we were in a room with a motor going at all times, we don't know what it was but it was loud and made it hard to sleep. The beds are not very comfortable either. We were with a tour group and the elevators took a long time to get to you, so we spent a lot of time waiting for elevators which during the rentavation weren't supposed to be renovated, they dated way back one of the bellman told us. One of our group broke her zipper on her suitcase and one of the bellmen went to K-Marts and got her a new one, so the service was excellent there. They are presently under going some construction so that was
also a problems for us. It's a nice hotel totherwise and I would probably wouldn't stay there again because of the noisy room and the slow elevators.

I booked a two-night stay for March. Was referred to revenue manager to discuss bill discrepancies, but repeated calls were not returned.
