The Silversmith is very promising -- good location, nice big rooms, right price. A few issues make it a bit less than ideal, however.
The good: we had a gigantic room with a king bed and pull-out sofa, along with a huge bathroom with separate shower and jacuzzi tub. The price was right at $90/night from Priceline.
The bad: The hotel is right next to the El, so it is a little noisy, even on the other side of the building. Of course, this is also rather convenient if you want to take the metro. The staff was fine, though at times they seemed patronizing (talked very slowly, described everything they were doing -- it was odd, though perhaps a Chicago thing?). Worst aspect of the hotel was the "business center" -- a pair of seriously underpowered PCs and a low-ink inkjet printer that probably came free in a bundle. Trying to print a boarding pass for the flight home was an exercise in patience at best.
Overall a fine stay for the price, but nothing particularly great.
