The Silversmith is in the Jewelry District (about two blocks from Grant Park), and is immediately in front of an elevated train stop on the loop. The stop connects to four lines, which makes it very convenient to anywhere in Chicago. It also makes all street front rooms very noisy, not just from the passing/stopping trains but the train announcements, too. I stayed on the courtyard side and could still hear the noise, and the wind surges, created by each train. But, enough of the negatives. The hotel was very attractive, with rich oak furniture and paneling. The prairie décor was reminiscent of Frank Lloyd Wright. The L-shaped room was approximately 600 square feet, with twin queen beds, a large bathroom and a large foyer. Lots of quality, small touches in the room. The service was first rate. My rate was only $122 (not including breakfast) thanks to hotel.com.
