One of two well-established Mexican restaurant and retail districts in Chicago, the other being Little Village or La Villita.  Both were originally settled by Czech immigrants and some of the architecture reflects this heritage.  The eastern portion of Pilsen is gradually gentrifying, causing concern among some residents about displacement.
